You’ve likely heard of liposuction. It’s a standard body contouring method that removes pockets of fat through a surgical procedure. However, you may not have heard of Vaser liposuction.
Vaser lipo takes liposuction to a new level, allowing surgeons to remove excess fat from just about anywhere in the body.
What Is Vaser Liposuction?
Vaser liposuction is a surgical fat removal procedure that combines ultrasonic energy with the traditional liposuction vacuum. The ultrasonic energy generated by the Vaser device breaks up fat cells, allowing for easier removal through a thin cannula. The excess fat is removed quickly and efficiently when the vacuum is attached to the cannula.
This treatment is preferred over traditional liposuction because of the ultrasonic energy. Rather than shocking fat cells from their usual place in the tissue, the ultrasonic energy encourages them to move around. As a result, fat cell removal is much more straightforward and gentler on the body.
Most people find Vaser lipo much quicker than traditional lipo. We perform a complete Vaser liposuction treatment in under a few hours, compared with liposuction, which may require half a day or longer, depending on the number of areas treated.
What Can I Expect During a Vaser Liposuction Procedure?
Patients begin their Vaser liposuction with anesthesia. You might receive either local anesthesia or general anesthesia. We will recommend the appropriate type of anesthesia for you, depending on your preferences and the number of areas that we will treat.
Once we finish sedation, a solution is injected into the treatment areas to encourage fat expansion and the constriction of blood vessels. The solution makes it easier for us to remove the fat from your body with less impact on surrounding tissues.
Next, we’ll make a small incision into the body through which we will remove the fat. The incision will provide a base for the insertion of the ultrasonic device. Once we insert the ultrasonic Vaser apparatus into the skin and its tissues, we will turn it on to break apart the fat cells.
Finally, we’ll use a thin cannula attached to a vacuum to extract the fat from your body. Depending on the number of treatment areas, we may need to repeat the process a few times.
Following your lipo treatment, you’ll spend a few hours at our treatment center waking up from the anesthesia. You’ll be released to finish your recovery in the comfort of your home. We will provide you with aftercare instructions to assist in your healing.
Who Is a Good Candidate for Vaser Lipo?
Anyone who struggles with unwanted fat they can’t seem to get rid of may be a good candidate for Vaser liposuction. Before undergoing a Vaser lipo procedure, we’ll schedule you for a thorough consultation with us.
During the consultation, we’ll ask for your medical history and a list of prescriptions you are currently taking. We’ll also examine the areas you are seeking to treat. If you’re determined to be a good candidate for Vaser lipo, we’ll explain the procedure and what to expect from it.
How Long Do the Results from Vaser Liposuction Last?
The results from Vaser liposuction are not temporary. Once we remove the fat cells, they cannot return. However, if you gain significant weight, the remaining cells may expand, diminishing the effects of your results. Maintaining a healthy diet and exercise routine is essential to keeping your new physique.
It may take some time for your results to become fully apparent following the procedure. The body needs time to heal and acclimate to your new figure. It may take three to six months to see the full outcome of your Vaser liposuction procedure.
What Are the Benefits of Vaser Liposuction?
There are several key advantages to the Vaser liposuction procedure.
Body Contouring
There is a common misconception that liposuction is an effective weight-loss treatment. Liposuction is not a substitute for weight loss. Instead, it is a surgical technique intended to remove fat from areas that don’t respond to regular diet and exercise.
Through Vaser liposuction, we can effectively remove fat from your arms, thighs, abdominal area, love handles, knees, buttocks, and ankles. Vaser liposuction is especially effective for men who have excess fat in the chest area. Many patients can achieve the dramatic results they are seeking through lipo.
Fast Recovery Period
Traditional liposuction often takes weeks to recover from. During lipo, the body undergoes an invasive procedure that interrupts bodily processes. The body needs time to reacclimate itself, resulting in a lengthy recovery.
Patients who don’t have weeks to spend away from work recovering from surgery appreciate the shorter recovery period from Vaser liposuction. In fact, this is one of the most significant benefits of Vaser lipo. Depending upon the size of the areas treated, patients may be able to return to work within a few days.
Of course, everyone is different. We can advise you of your expected recovery time during your consultation.
Smoother Skin
Sometimes, a traditional liposuction procedure leaves some dimpling on the skin. That should not be the case with Vaser liposuction. Since the ultrasonic energy encourages the fat cells to break apart from the surrounding tissue, fat removal is much easier and doesn’t affect surrounding tissues.
Patients often note how natural their results appear, with no dimpling and smooth skin.
