Fine lines and wrinkles are a natural part of aging, and many people want to get rid of them. The good news is that there is hope for reducing the appearance of these lines on the face. Injectables are a viable solution that can smooth muscles that cause contractions and lead to more lines on the face.
If you have been considering reducing the appearance of your fine lines and wrinkles, you need to know which face injectables are the right fit for you and your appearance.
Are you feeling overwhelmed by all of the different cosmetic treatment options that are out in the marketplace today? Well,Karol Gutowski, MD and aFresh Med Spa can help patients find the best solution for their patients’ needs. Many people want to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, but they have no idea which injectables will be the best for their face. The truth is that everyone has unique attributes that make them ideal for specific products and less ideal for others.
If you want the best injectables for your face, you might want to consider one of the four most popular neuromodulator options:
This detailed guide will educate you on what each product has to offer so that you and your provider can make the right decisions for your cosmetic goals.
When it comes to the best injectables for the face, many people automatically turn to Botox as the solution to fine lines and wrinkles. It was the first FDA-approved injectable on the market to reduce the appearance of moderate to severe frown lines.
Botox also improves the appearance of crow’s feet and forehead lines by freezing (or paralyzing) expression-making muscles and smoothing the skin. In the process, Botox can potentially prevent wrinkles and lines.
If you have a gummy smile, you might also want to consider Botox treatments. A small amount of Botox will be injected into the upper lip to expose less gum tissue when smiling. Botox may also be applied to the vertical platysmal bands (neck bands) to improve signs of aging.
You can start to see results in as little as 24 to 48 hours after your first application. Results should last approximately four months before needing a touch-up treatment.
Moderate to severe lines between the eyebrows, also known as glabellar lines, don’t stand a chance with face injectables like Jeuveau. It takes just a few minutes to administer these injectables, and they can have lasting results for up to five months.
Also referred to as prabotulinum toxin A-XVFS, Jeuveau takes a different approach than Botox. Instead of freezing muscles to reduce contractions and facial “scrunching,” this injectable communicates with the nerves to tell them to stop flexing the facial muscles that contribute to moderate to severe lines between your eyebrows.
Another benefit of the neuromodulator Jeuveau is that it can prevent superficial aging in the first place. Many people get this treatment as a preventative against fine lines and wrinkles that could form in the future.
Much like Jeuveau, Dysport is designed to help temporarily smooth frown lines between the brows. It can also be used to treat a gummy smile, similar to Botox.
This prescription injectable boasts results that last for up to three months. More than half of all users see improvements in their frown lines within the first two to three days following treatment.
Unlike Botox and Xeomin, Dysport does tend to have smaller unit sizes. As a result, it may take a few extra units of Dysport to achieve the same results seen with the other face injectables.
Dysport treats wrinkles and does not affect the muscles and skin surrounding the treatment area. This allows you to continue using everyday facial expressions.
Xeomin is another of the best injectables for the face that is similar in form to Botox. The unit size of the application is very similar, but a couple of differences set Xeomin apart from the other cosmetic injectables discussed above.
The first is that Xeomin does not require refrigeration at your provider’s office. While this may not play a role in your decision-making process, the storage of the injectable is something your provider may consider when recommending a specific product for your needs.
The other unique attribute is that it contains no additional protein content besides the botulinum toxin A. If you are concerned about developing antibodies in response to injectables, this may be a better fit for you than others and can boost the product’s efficacy.
This injectable works by relaxing the facial muscles to give you a softer expression. In particular, it is known for treating glabellar lines, more commonly referred to as frown lines. However, many providers also use Xeomin to treat crow’s feet and forehead wrinkles. Much like Dysport and Botox, it can be used to treat a gummy smile, too.
