What is an Eyelid Lift?

Blepharoplasty is a surgical procedure that corrects drooping skin in the upper eyelids and the loss of volume in the lower eyelids. Eyelid surgery allows us to lift your upper and lower eyelids for a more youthful and energized appearance. Your upper and lower eyelids can be corrected during one surgical procedure. Blepharoplasty can also target bags under your eyes and fat bulges near your inner eye.

We have performed many blepharoplasty procedures over the years. We will offer expert advice about the best plastic surgery solution for your concern. It is our goal to help you look and feel your best. Eyelid surgery may be a step in the right direction!

Who Can Benefit From Eyelid Surgery?

Blepharoplasty is not only suitable for older patients with sagging eyelids. You may be young and have drooping eyelids. Sagging skin around your eyelids is not limited to patients over a certain age. We also offer double eyelid surgery to provide larger, more almond-shaped eyes. Your blepharoplasty procedure can be customized to provide your desired outcome.

The Benefits of Eyelid Surgery

Energized appearance

Drooping eyelids can make give you a tired appearance. Although sagging eyelids do not result from lack of sleep, they may still affect your facial expressions. Eyelid surgery can eliminate these bags and give your face a refreshed look. You can include a chemical peel and dermal fillers to further enhance your rejuvenated appearance.

Improve the Shape of Your Eyes

Wrinkles and fine lines may hide the shape of your eyes, but eyelid surgery can redefine the contours of your eyes for a more youthful appearance.

Restored Vision

Not only do drooping eyes affect your appearance, but they also affect your vision. This can impact your ability to drive and read. Improve your vision with upper eyelid surgery.

Eyelid Surgery Before and After

Types of Eyelid Surgery

Upper Eyelid Surgery

You may have drooping or excess skin on your upper eyelid. This makes you look older and can interfere with your vision. During upper eyelid surgery, we create an incision along the fold of your eyelid to remove excess skin, fat, and tissue. This can reduce the appearance of bags near your inner eye. Once the excess skin is removed, we will close the incision with fine sutures. Depending on your desired outcome, we can reposition the fat tissue instead of completely removing it.

Lower Eyelid Surgery

Lower blepharoplasty can reduce the appearance of bags under your eyes. These bulges are responsible for making you look tired. During the procedure, we can make an incision under the lash line of your lower eyelid. Then we will remove excess fat or excise skin. We can also go another route with lower eyelid surgery. If your skin’s elasticity is good, we can make an incision inside the lower eyelid to conceal the scar better.

It is important to note that lower eyelid surgery only removes the bags under your eyes, but it won’t remove dark circles under the eyes. However, we could combine lower eyelid surgery with a chemical peel or dermal filler.

Double Eyelid Surgery

Double eyelid surgery creates a crease in the upper eyelid to alter the shape of your eye. This surgical procedure can make your eyes bigger or more almond-shaped. During double eyelid surgery, we will extend the inner corner of your eye towards your nose to increase the height and width of your eyes.

Schedule an Initial Consultation

Before we get started on your eyelid surgery, you visit us for an initial consultation. During this session, we can assess your medical records and examine your current health to determine whether you are suitable for eyelid surgery. We will also discuss your goals and expectations for eyelid surgery. Feel free to ask us any questions about the procedure. We are open and honest about all the details so we can put your mind at ease.

The Procedure

To prepare for your procedure, you should arrange for someone to drive you back home. Due to the anesthesia and new wound, you won’t be able to drive. You may also require some general assistance when you get home for a day or two.

For any blepharoplasty procedure, we will administer general anesthesia. It takes about 1-2 hours to complete the surgery. Blepharoplasty is performed on an outpatient basis, so you can return home for your recovery. Incisions are strategically placed to conceal scars for a more natural appearance. Upper and lower eyelid surgery can be performed in a single procedure.

Recovery and Results

You may notice some swelling or discoloration around your eyes for the first few days, but this is normal. We recommend that you keep your head lifted for a few days. We will also prescribe pain medication and antibiotics to ensure a successful and comfortable recovery. It is also best to limit strenuous physical activities for a few days while your wounds heal. You will gradually notice the results as you recover.
