Cellulaze is the latest technology to reduce cellulite under the skin and it is the first technology to be approved by the Food and Drug Administration (F.D.A.). During a Cellulaze procedure, small incisions about the size of a pen tip allow the laser fiber to be inserted under the area where cellulite exists. This temperature-regulated laser is used to smoothen cellulite bulges using the laser to melt the fat cells. During this process, the laser fiber releases energy under the skin, which stimulates new collagen growth. It continues to release fibrous bands resulting with a thicker, smoother quality of skin. Over time, new fibrous straps continue to develop under the skin creating a new and freshly formed skin structure and softer appearance.
This procedure uses tiny incisions, just large enough to insert the laser tip. It is considered an outpatient treatment and is typically performed using local anesthesia. A Cellulaze treatment typically takes 1 to 2 hours. It is done under local anesthesia with a tiny cannula inserted in very small incisions to work on the fibrous bands and fat pockets underneath the skin. The length of the procedure depends mainly on the thickness and spread of the cellulite area to be treated.
The recovery period is quick after a Cellulaze treatment since the incisions made are minimal. The only noticeable discomfort will be redness and numbness in the areas of treatment. Scarring is also minimal with this procedure. Compression bandages are worn to help relieve pain and discomfort. Most patients are able to resume normal activities within 3 days.
